Version Chart

The following chart is adapted from What's in a Version?, a pamphlet published by Pacesetters Bible School. I wrote that pamphlet and am using this material by permission. Links on version titles lead to a good representative of that version on Amazon.com. Links which read "Review" are to reviews on this site where available, "List" indicates a page listing multiple editions of that version.

* I have not completed full review and analysis of these versions.

  1. P=Paraphrase; D=Dynamic Equivalence; F=Formal Equivalence, B=Balanced;
  2. C=Committee; I=Individual
  3. M=Modern text; T=Textus Receptus

Note: Balanced does not imply better than any other, but rather that the translation uses a mix of the methods and that the counts I do on the text were not clear as to the translation falling in one camp or the other. I do this only for those versions which are very close to the center. All translations us a mix of translation methods.
